A quick note about the title: Alphard, literally meaning ‘The Solitary One,’ is apparently the largest/brightest star in the constellation Hydra. Loneliness seems to be the main theme in this track – I think the main speaker is Mokou (the ‘red star’), who has parted with someone she loves due to her immortality. Though she is unhappy, she resolves to keep moving forward…

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

itsuka suteta kokoro ni afuredashita fuan no tane ga
moesagari takeru you ni tada mune wo shimetsukeru

The cause of my anxiety, which overflowed out of my cast-off heart,
Merely constricts my chest, like a blazing rage…

samayotta toki no naka miageteta gin’iro no tsuki ga
kokoro wo tokasu you ni tada yami wo terashidasu

The silver moon, which I gazed up at as I loitered around,
Merely illuminates the darkness, as if it were melting my heart…

hoshi no furu sora no fumoto de watashi wa ima mo machitsudzuketeiru

I’m still waiting at the foot of a sky of falling stars…

kokoro sae okizari ni shite nan no tame ni ikiteyuku no?
tsuki wa warai yozora he ochiteiku
kimi to warai kimi to naite tadoritzuita kono kotae ga
mada mienai ashita he tsudzuiteru
meguri meguru toki no naka de

I left even my heart behind, so why do I continue to live?
The moon sneers, and falls towards the starry sky…
The answer I arrived at after laughing and crying together with you,
Is to continue on towards that unseen tomorrow,
In the cycle of time.

ikuoku no hoshizora wo watari yuku akairo no hoshi ga
kodoku wo nageku you ni tada yoru ni kieteyuku

The red star, which crosses over a sky of countless stars,
Merely vanishes into the night, as if it was lamenting its isolation…

moeagaru sora no miayto de watashi wa ima mo machitsudzuketeiru

I’m still waiting in an empty metropolis, which is consumed in flames…

jikan sae okisari ni shite nan no tame ni ikiteiku no?
hitori kodoku yozora he ochiteiku
kimi wo aishi kimi wo nikumi tadoritzuita kono kotae ga
mada mienai ashita he tsudzuiteru
meguri meguru toki no naka de

I left even time behind, so why do I continue to live?
Alone, isolated, I fall towards the night sky…
The answer I arrived at after loving and hating you,
Is to continue on towards that unseen tomorrow,
In the cycle of time.

hito wa nan no tame ni umare nan no tame ni ikiteyuku no?
tsuki to tomo ni hoshizora he ochiteiku
kimi to warai kimi to naite tadoritzuita kono kotae ga
towa ni tsudzuku mirai sae tsumugidasu

Why are humans born? Why do humans live?
Together with the moon, I sink towards the starry sky…
The answer I arrived at after laughing and crying together with you,
Is to spin a tale of even the eternally continuing future.

meguri meguru toki no naka de futari deau kiseki sae mo
yume no you na ashita he ochiteiku
futari tsunagu kono ryoute de nigirishimeta kono kotae ga
mada mienai ashita he tsuduiteru
nagai nagai yoru wo koete

In the cycle of time, even the miracle of the two of us meeting
Falls towards that dream-like tomorrow as well…
The answer I grasp tightly with these hands, which join us together,
Is to continue on towards that unseen tomorrow,
Crossing over the eternal, eternal night.

michi kake yoru wo meguri
inochi wa sora wo meguru
dare mo ga toki wo meguri
itsuka sora no kimi no moto he

Cycling through the waxing and waning night,
Life revolves around in the sky…
Everyone circles around in time,
Heading in due course towards you, in the sky.
