The Elegy of One Who Was Left Behind

Vocals: Ranko
Lyrics: Ranko
Arranged by: Comp
Album: O, Ordinary Brain! Dance with Tonight’s Moon
Circle: Butaotome (豚乙女)
Event: C87
Original Theme: Beware the Umbrella Left There Forever [

This song, in stark contrast to the other songs from this album, sounds relatively cheery, focusing on Kogasa. Interestingly enough, the title is similar to a certain ‘lament’ by Diao ye zong, except the title this time is probably better translated as ‘Elegy’ (a type of song or poem used to mourn the dead).

ra, so, fa tte
ochite kita
ken ken paa de susunde
kaeri dou suru?
suterare kasame nai
acchi mo kocchi mo doumo
onnaji ni mieru

With a “la, so, fa,”
I fell.
I go forwards, hopping on one leg.
How will I get back?
I’m not some abandoned umbrella…
Whether I look here or there,
Everything seems the same.

itsuka kowareru unmei toka
yogore chimatta kanashimi, toka
tada mou raa raa utau dake nara
sake nonde mata ashita

I think about my fate to break someday,
And about my corrupted sadness, and stuff like that…
Still, if I just sing, “la la,”
Then I’ll drink saké – goodbye ‘till tomorrow!

yada yada
ai wa aru
sou yatte sugu tsubusu
kui ja nai no yo
chotto dake fuzaketa no
watashi datte tama ni wa kawaiburitai

No way! No way!
There’s love.
Through that, I crush them right away.
I’m not a stake, you know! (1)
I was just joking around a bit –
I want to act cute sometimes!

utsuru kimochi wa shiyou ga nai
samishiku naru no mo jiyuu desho
konai hito wa mou konai nante
iwarenakute mo wakaru

The feelings I express can’t be helped.
I guess I’m free to become sad, as well…
Those who won’t come back won’t come back –
Even if it isn’t said to me, I understand.

sugaru kotodama mijime ja nai

The kotodama I cling to… aren’t they wretched?

itsuka kowareru unmei toka
yogore chimatta kanashimi, toka
tada mou raa raa utau dake nara
sake nonde mata ashita

I think about my fate to break someday,
And about my corrupted sadness, and stuff like that…
Still, if I just sing, “la la,”
Then I’ll drink saké – goodbye ‘till tomorrow!
