I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m a fan of pretty much all of Yuuka’s themes. It feels like I’ve translated a couple of songs based on Gensokyo, Past and Present lately, which is a good thing! I can’t believe it took me this long to discover this arrangement…

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

“boku wo sono te de koroshite kure” to
watashi no kami ni fure nagara itta
obieta hitomi wa kagami awase
nokoshi yuku mono nokosareru mono

“Please, kill me with your own hands.”
You said, whilst touching my hair.
I fearfully gazed at you, as if I was looking in a mirror
One who leaves someone behind. One who is left behind.

watashi ga chirasu karekaketa hana
itooshige na egao to akai kaben to

I scattered withered flowers about –
Flowers with lovely smiles and red petals…

yubi wo kande afuredashita chi
tetsu sabita tsumi fukai aji
yakusoku wa tagaerareru to
kakugo shiteita
“gomenne” to tsubuyaita koe
aozora ni tokete nijinda
namida sae sasagerarenai
namida sae, mou

I bit my finger, and the blood that began to flow out
Had a sinful taste, like rusted metal.
I had prepared myself
To fulfill our promise.
“I’m sorry…” I muttered,
And my voice dissolved in the blue sky.
I cannot offer even my tears,
Even my tears, anymore…

shunme no you ni kisetsu ga sugite
irokoi kage ga chi ni ochiru koro
manmarui hoshi no kage no shita de
taoyaka ni mebuita futatsu no ha

The seasons pass like a swift stallion.
When that pronounced shadow fell upon the earth,
A pair of willowy leaves budded
Beneath the shadowy fragments of the round stars.

sugu ni watashi no setake wo koete
taiyou no iro wo shita hana ga hiraita

Immediately afterwards, a sun-coloured flower bloomed.
It grew even taller than me…

yubi wo kande afuredashita chi
hanabira wo sen de yogoshita
itoshikute nikutarashikute
daikirai, suki

I bit my finger, and with the blood flowing from it,
I drew a line and defiled the flower’s petals.
It is lovely, but it is odious.
I hate it, but I like it.

hana wa shiorete koube wo tarete
namida no you na tane wo sotto koboshita

The flowers withered and bowed their heads,
And their seeds, like tears, softly fell.

“boku wo sono te de koroshite kure” to
watashi no kami ni fure nagara itta
shunme no you ni kisetsu wa sugite
anata yori nagai toki ga tatta

“Please, kill me with your own hands.”
You said, whilst touching my hair.
The seasons pass like a swift stallion,
And a span of time longer than your life passed.

kaze ga fuku kami wo midashite
yubisaki wo anata ni kasane
kigen yoku kasa wo mawashite
mata natsu ga kita
nagasenai watashi no namida
te no hira ni afureta tane to
sanzameku kono ichimen no
himawari batake

The wind blows, disturbing my hair.
I lay my fingertips upon you.
In high spirits, I twirl my umbrella:
Summer has come once more.
My tears can flow no more.
Seeds overflowed from my hands,
And everything was rustling about
In this sunflower field.
